We have pleasure in announcing to you our new company, “COSMO SEIWA AGRICULTURE CO., LTD.” of Japan, established on 1st of December, 2004.

This new joint venture company has been established by Cosmo Oil Co., Ltd., the third largest refining and sales company in Japan, and Seiwa Co., Ltd., the leading name in agriculture tools manufacturer in Japan and the new company has been formed to deal in new plant strengthener “PENTAKEEP-V” which contains 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA).

5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA), is a natural amino acid and is a precursor of the biosynthesis of chlorophyll in plants. As a result of scientific research, Cosmo Oil discovered that ALA treatment to plants showed growth promotion and increased stress tolerance of plants in respect of environmental effects. Cosmo Oil therefore entered into developing a new fertilizer in collaboration with Seiwa. These two companies worked together to develop, for the first time in the world, a liquid fertilizer “PENTAKEEP-V” containing ALA. This product is registered as a fertilizer in Japan (No.86041)

“PENTAKEEP-V” has received high evaluation and a good reputation among Japanese growers particularly in reference to a variety of vegetables and fruit trees. This product has also obtained a high evaluation from the scientific community in Japan.

Cosmo and Seiwa were awarded the "Technical Prize in 2004" by The Japanese Society for Chemical Regulation of Plants (JSCRP) for the development of PENTAKEEP-V.

In order to promote further development and expand into other areas based on this research , ‘COSMO SEIWA AGRICULTURE CO., LTD.’ was established by Cosmo Oil and Seiwa. This new company focuses on the sales of “PENTAKEEP-V” to foreign countries with a world-wide customer base of agriculturists and horticulturists.
